DOT Helmets

In most states DOT helmets are required by law. (Check out my link to U.S. helmet laws if you're unsure.) If you live in a state where a helmet is required for riding a motorcycle get yourself a DOT approved helmet.

Occasionally I ride with a half helmet. You know, the ones you see all covered with those stickers with the humorous writing and have a tag inside that says, "novelty only". But, I live in Florida, no helmet law and I choose to ride that way.

I keep a DOT helmet because I like long road trips and going through states with a helmet law the fine can be pretty stiff, not to mention the aggravation of being stopped if you're caught without a DOT approved motorcycle helmet.
